Cervical Cancer Screening with Rex Cancer Center
Annually, Alliance Medical Ministry hosts a free community cervical cancer screening in partnership with Rex Cancer Services and Rex Pathology. These clinics are held each January to coincide with national Cervical Cancer Awareness month.

Ninety-four women attended our first screening clinic. Statistics from the screening:

• Average age of participants was 42 years old
• Percentage without health insurance: 66 %
• Ethnicity of participants:
  • 24% Caucasian
  • 26% African American
  • 36% Latino

• Time elapsed since last screening:
  •   2 — Never
  • 14 — More than 5 years
  • 23 — 2-5 years
  • 42 — 1-2 Years
  • 10 — Within the year

Breast Cancer Screening with Rex Cancer Center
Each October, on behalf of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, AMM hosts a community-wide free breast cancer screening clinic in partnership with Rex Healthcare. In October 2007, with the help of many volunteers from the community, 87 women recieved a clinical breast exam, education on self-examination, and an opportunity to ask questions of their providers.

  • 40% African American
  • 33% Latino
  • 13% Other

In a recent survey of AMM patients:

100% of patients experienced improvement in overall health since establishing medical care at AMM.

63% of patients rated their health as markedly improved.

71% had at least one visit to the ER prior to becoming an AMM patient.

86% had a reduction in Emergency Room visits.

The cost per patient visit has decreased from 2003 - 2005.
