General Job Description

Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a specialized acute care clinic while assisting medical providers as necessary in the treatment of patients; ensuring acute care clinic runs smoothly.

General Administrative duties include:

  • Answering telephones for acute care clinic
  • Greeting patients
  • Handling correspondence
  • Scheduling follow-up appointments
  • Performing other administrative duties as directed

Clinical Duties include:

  • Assisting with the triaging of patients to include recording vital signs
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Preparing patients for examinations and procedures
  • Assisting providers during patient visits as needed which may include proficient translation of medical information between providers and Spanish-speaking patients
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  • Performing basic laboratory tests on the premises
  • Preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician
  • May draw blood on occasion
  • Performing other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the medical provider

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from Accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a medical setting
  • Certified AAMA, AMT or other licensing agency required
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English & Spanish
  • Good customer service skills
  • Familiarity with computers
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions generally
  • Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene & basic health and safety precautions applicable to a clinic setting
  • Working knowledge of infection control procedures & safety precautions
  • Daily clinic preparation process; registration, and scheduling
  • Able to document and communicate pertinent information
