Laura Wasserman, NP
Laura Wasserman first fell in love with community health when she studied abroad in Honduras as an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. After graduating, she worked at an international women’s rights NGO, focusing on violence against women prevention. Through this work she had the opportunity to travel throughout Central America. Wanting to work more closely with local communities in the U.S., Laura decided to complete an accelerated nursing program at Duke. For two years, she served as a nurse on the cardio-thoracic surgery unit at Duke University Hospital in Durham. Laura completed her nurse practitioner training at UNC-Chapel Hill, focusing on adult and gerontology primary care. As part of her training at UNC, Laura completed a rotation at Alliance. She loved the staff’s supportive energy and commitment to the patients. Laura is passionate about working with Spanish-speaking patients and providing patient-centered care.
