Linda’s Story

The stress and anxiety of being uninsured coupled with health issues can feel insurmountable. Linda first came to Alliance Medical Ministry (AMM) after multiple emergency room visits and several hospital stays with pain and previously undiagnosed anemia. At AMM, she not only received care for her immediate health concerns but also established a foundation for long-term wellness through continuous primary care that met her ongoing needs.

By establishing regular visits with her AMM healthcare team, Linda was able to stay on top of her health. She worked closely with her doctors to monitor her conditions, adjust medications, and gain the knowledge needed to maintain a healthier lifestyle. “From that point on, I started getting the care I needed, not just when I was sick, but regularly. Before, I’d go to the ER for things that could’ve been handled at a doctor’s office.”

Beyond primary care, Linda also took advantage of AMM’s network of specialty referrals, including WakeSmiles, The Rex Mammogram Bus, and Project Access. She engaged in wellness programs like counseling with a registered dietician, joined weekly Zumba classes, and even volunteered in the community garden. Thanks to the comprehensive support she received, Linda not only regained her health but also found the strength to pursue a new career in phlebotomy.
