Dear Friend,
At Alliance Medical Ministry, we are committed to improving health outcomes for our uninsured neighbors by providing accessible, compassionate primary care. It is both the human thing to do and a wise financial investment in our community.
When you have health insurance, it is easy to take access to healthcare for granted. Navigating the healthcare system without insurance is an incredible challenge—especially when serious medical needs arise, and you are in survival mode trying to provide for your family. AMM’s patients have complex and chronic conditions – not easy or routine. Through collaborations with community partners and other nonprofit organizations, AMM is able to assist patients in receiving more than just the primary care we offer.
Today, I want to highlight several partners who help make high-quality, specialty care possible. They donate their time, making it possible for the poorest in our community to receive medical care and hope for their lives and families.
- RightCare/Project Access connects our patients with specialty care, from dermatology to oncology. Each year, AMM is one of the organization’s largest referring sites. Through this partnership, our patients gain access to lifesaving services through UNC Charity Care, WakeMed, and Duke.
- We are grateful to specialty practices such as Raleigh Foot & Ankle, Raleigh Hand to Shoulder, Blue Ridge Dermatology, and Raleigh Radiology for caring for our patients.
- Because diabetes can lead to serious vision problems, Prevent Blindness helps us screen patients for diabetic retinopathy.
- Filling in the Gaps—FIG assists us in obtaining medications and essential medical supplies.
- Wake Smiles provides much-needed dental care and continues to be an invaluable partner.
These organizations, and many others, help ensure that our patients receive the care they need with dignity, compassion, and respect. Community support and collaboration are critical to taking care of this underserved population.
We invite you to join us by volunteering, giving, and advocating for equitable access to healthcare.
Thank you for helping Alliance Medical Ministry care for our most vulnerable neighbors.
With gratitude,
Pete Tannenbaum,
AMM Executive Director

Meet Eliana, Family Nurse Practitioner
Eliana is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a background in emergency nursing and a passion for providing compassionate and accessible healthcare.
Before becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner, Eliana worked as a registered nurse in both academic Level I trauma and community emergency departments. Her nursing experience caring for patients across the lifespan helped shape her interest in primary care, health education, and improving access to high-quality care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where her clinical training included primary care, women’s and reproductive health, pediatrics, urgent care, and internal medicine.
Her interest in service and global health has also led her to participate in medical outreach experiences in several countries. Most recently, she completed a global health internship at a mission hospital in Kenya, where she worked alongside local healthcare teams caring for both adult and pediatric patients.
Eliana is excited to join the AMM team and is looking forward to partnering with AMM’s patients and community!

Prostate Cancer Awareness
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers to affect men in the US. It is estimated that over 330,000 men will be diagnosed with it in 2026. If found early, however, the chances of prostate cancer being cured are typically very good. This means knowing your risks, getting screened, and focusing on healthy habits could save your life.
