November Pulse: This season, your gift can go twice as far
November 24, 2025
Dear Friend,

As we enter this season of thankfulness and giving, I want to share my deep gratitude for you — our community of supporters who make healing possible at Alliance Medical Ministry.

We are in a time of rising need for affordable healthcare. Changes in coverage and the increasing cost of insurance mean that more adults in Wake County are turning to AMM for care. As a Free and Charitable Clinic, we do not accept Medicaid or insurance of any kind — which means our ability to care for these patients depends on philanthropy and the generosity of friends like you.

Your gift truly changes lives — providing medical care, health education, counseling, and wellness programs that help our patients thrive.

And this season, your impact can go twice as far. The Gilead Foundation is matching all year-end gifts, dollar-for- dollar up to $50,000, now through December 31.

Thank you for helping us care for our neighbors in need with compassion and dignity.

With gratitude,

Pete Tannenbaum,
AMM Executive Director

Meet Tracey V. Smith: A Champion for Health Equity and Community Impact

Tracey V. Smith, AMM’s new Director of Development and Communications, has dedicated her career to strengthening communities through strategic fundraising, compassionate leadership, and a steadfast commitment to health equity. Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, Tracey brings 24 years of progressive development experience with the American Cancer Society, where she cultivated deep expertise in donor engagement, corporate partnerships, and mission-driven philanthropy.

Her approach blends data-informed strategy with a personal passion for connecting resources to meaningful causes. “Fundraising is really about building trust and aligning purpose,” Tracey shares. “Every gift tells a story of someone’s belief in a healthier, more equitable world.”

Tracey is eager to bring her experience and energy to AMM, whose mission resonates deeply with her own values. AMM’s vision to ensure every neighbor has access to the healthcare they deserve reflects the very principles that have guided Tracey’s career.

Beyond her professional achievements, Tracey is known for her faith, collaborative spirit and heart for service. She believes that transformative change happens when organizations and individuals work together for the common good.

AMM's patients typically practice yoga virtually, but earlier this month, they got to practice yoga in person! A bilingual instructor from our partner, You Call This Yoga, led patients through a grounding and relaxing flow. After class, they used dried herbs from the garden to make their own herbal tea blend to take home. It was a cozy Saturday!

We had the privilege of hosting the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin for a garden volunteer day this month. Many hands made light work-- in just a few hours, volunteers harvested sweet potatoes and peppers, planted mixed greens and garlic bulbs, weeded, and shoveled lots of mulch. We are so grateful to our volunteers!
