Dear Friend,
I am thrilled to report that Alliance Medical Ministry is expanding! Thanks to an incredibly generous gift from The William R. Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust, AMM is now seeking a new physician and support to join our team. This comes at a time when the safety net is challenged by questions on Medicaid and federal funding. AMM does not take Medicaid or insurance, and we receive no direct federal funding. That is the good news! The bad news is that many clinics do rely on Medicaid and federal funds.
We are proud to be able to fill any gaps with our safety net clinics and expand when many are contracting. We can only do this through community philanthropy, such as the gift from The William R. Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust. Wake County has a real issue with the uninsured, and it is not getting better. Consider this:
- Within a 3-mile radius of AMM, poverty rates range from 19% to 67%, far exceeding the Wake County average of 8%
- 23% of people in AMM's census tract lack health insurance
- AMM patients are living paycheck to paycheck and forgo medical care to pay for basic needs
Our value is seen in the 68% of our patients who report fewer visits to the ER. Many patients had been going 10-15 times a year! The most vulnerable people in our community are the very ones who need AMM the most.
We can do this because of the community. I want to ask if you would consider making a gift to AMM as we wrap up our fiscal year. Every single dollar makes a difference. For every $1 you donate, AMM provides $5.90 in life-saving medical care and medications!
Thank you for considering a gift.
Sincerely,
Pete Tannenbaum,
AMM Executive Director

On May 10th, over 20 AMM staff, patients, and volunteers took part in the Bloom and Zoom 5k, 8k, and fun mile! It was a beautiful and fun-filled morning of running, walking, and even dancing at the finish line.
The Bloom and Zoom races raise money for multiple non-profits every year, and AMM is so grateful to be one of many to receive funding from this event.

Summer is almost here, and so are lots of summer veggies! The spring harvest of carrots and radishes wraps up in just a few weeks. The garden will soon be boasting summer squash, cucumbers, Sungold tomatoes, okra, peppers, eggplant, and blueberries.
Our eight patient garden beds are also looking bountiful, with patients choosing to grow things like Nigerian jute leaves, habanero peppers, and lots of tomatoes.
